Piano Lessons That Kids Love!
Why will your students LOVE taking lessons in my studio? Simply put, I have moved away from the traditional model of teaching piano lessons to a much more modern and effective method that is proven to work!
OLD WAY
Introduce students to new concepts and songs that they are to practice at home.
Send them home with “fingers crossed" that they will remember what was said and figure out how to practice effectively and correctly. Bad habits are very easily formed during this time at home.
See students the following week where they either “pass” their songs and are given lots of verbal praise, or are sent home to redo their songs and fix mistakes/misunderstood directions.
Progress has the POTENTIAL to be slow, frustrating, inconsistent at best and can EASILY lead to feelings of inadequacy and eventually to the end result of quitting.
NEW WAY
Students have the TIME necessary to learn the majority of their music here with me.
Students won't feel lost or confused and will have much more confidence that they are playing their songs correctly at home because they will have gone over their assignment with me BEFORE they go home.
Practice at home will feel easier and will be more about refining what they have already learned here, as students learn the correct way to practice.
Students will move through their beginner books at a “faster than average” pace because of the extended time they have here at the studio with me.
Students will become independent piano players and good “sight-readers” right from the get-go, gaining the skill to learn new songs with very little guidance
About Me
I began taking piano lessons at the age of 5 with my Mom, who at the time had over 30 piano students! I studied piano with her for over 10 years. I went on to graduate from college in 1988 with a degree in elementary education. In 1993, I found my perfect sweet spot, as my love for working with children and passion for playing piano merged together in a beautiful way. I have been teaching ever since, for over 26 years!
